Letter From The Frontlines: The Aux Cord Wars Live

By: Brandon Whitaker

On Friday, April 11, the spring concert was held in the Bondurant Auditorium hosting Aux Cord Wars. Aux Cord Wars is a traveling live musical gameshow. The DJs and performers in the group have traveled to many college campuses such as Ohio State, Notre Dame and just seven days prior stopped by Virginia Tech.

During the performance there was one guest appearance and two guest performers. First to make their entrance was T99zy. T99zy is a hip hop artist out of New Orleans with 326,000 TikTok followers and is best known for his song “Trip Out” that has a little over 4 million plays on Spotify.

Next on the stage for his guest appearance to help officiate the wars was Emmanuel Hudson, comedian, dancer and rapper best known for being a recurring cast member on MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.” The final performer was Travis Porter, a hip hop trio from Atlanta, best known for their triple platinum song “Ayy Ladies.”

In between the three guests were the wars themselves. Students in attendance scanned a QR code to create a profile and then were randomly selected to face off on stage. When the two students made it to the stage, they would each pick three songs based on a theme selected by the host. After each student’s songs played one after another, they were judged based on the crowd reaction. The winners received gift cards, cash and one even chose a mystery box that held a new speaker instead of the cash, prompting Hudson to give the student double the amount she passed up on.
