Opinion: Take Away the President’s Phone

On the morning of Easter Sunday, President Donald J. Trump took to Truth Social to post a series of outlandish messages, targeted toward Iran. The first, uploaded at around 8 a.m., was explicit and unreasonably angry.
Trump posted “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah, President DONALD J. TRUMP”. His predecessors, President Obama and Biden, both posted simple, charming Easter messages, wishing the American people a day full of peace, love, and worship. However, President Trump decided to both mock Muslim faith, as well as threaten the Iranian people.
This is a drastic shift from his Easter message last year, which was completely normal. “Melania and I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter!”, which he posted to his Truth Social account on Easter of 2025. Why the drastic shift in emotion?
Democratic lawmakers suggested limiting his power, calling the President ‘dangerous’, ‘unhinged’, and a threat to national stability. Several Democratic lawmakers posted to social media that they think Trump’s cabinet should act now and invoke the 25th amendment to keep him from posting such unchecked messages.
His supposed ‘unhinged’ rampage didn’t stop there. President Trump returned to Truth Social the night of April 13th, making several different posts between the hours of 7pm and 4am. Of these posts, the president posted an AI-generated photo of himself depicted as Jesus Christ. The post has since been deleted but not before receiving backlash from prominent religous leaders and other politicians.
Another AI-generated photo was posted of what appears to be the Trump Tower in New York City placed on the moon. This isn’t the first time the President has depicted himself as Jesus Christ, and it likely won’t be the last. Several democrats called it ‘blasphemy’, while the opposing side defended the President by saying it was ‘ironic’, and simply meant to ‘anger liberals’. Nevertheless, his posts are becoming highly unprofessional and should absolutely be checked.
Following Monday’s blockade of Iranian ports the President posted another message, a warning to ships that approach U.S. vessels. “What we have not hit are their small number of, what they call, ‘fast attack ships’ because we did not consider them much of a threat. Warning: If any of these ships come anywhere close to our BLOCKADE, they will be immediately ELIMINATED, using the same system of kill that we use against the drug dealers on boats at Sea. It is quick and brutal.”
